Kids Matter

Do our St Pat’s kids matter? Of course they do. They matter to their families, to our school and to the community. These are the groups that KidsMatter wants to bring together to improve Children’s mental health.

Good mental health is vital for learning and life. Children who are mentally healthy are better able to meet life’s challenges. They also learn better and have stronger relationships with teachers, family members and peers.

KidsMatter is a national mental health initiative. KidsMatter has been developed in collaboration with the Australian Government Department of Health and Aging, beyondblue: the national depression initiative, the Australian Psychological Society, and Principals Australia.

Our School is part of this initiative which we see as a very positive process for our whole school community

By adopting KidsMatter we aim to:

  • To improve the mental health and well-being of of all our students;
  • To reduce mental health problems amongst our students;
  • To achieve greater support for those students experiencing mental health problems.
